There are certain settings for item creation that help streamline the entire process according to your store's needs. These settings can be found in Settings>Item Defaults.
The adjustable fields here are the default Inventory Type, Split, Terms, Tax, Expiration, Item Title Template, and Price Field. Adjusting any of these will make the update default for your entire store. For example, if you set the Split to 65% in these settings, any account created after that will have an automatic 65% split. That will remain unless you manually change the account's split. The same rule applies for all of these settings.
Inventory Type
The Inventory Type decides when the consignor receives a payout. If most of your inventory is consignment, it's best to leave the default as Consignment. However, if you buy a lot of items from your consignors to sell later, Buy Outright may be a better fit. Retail is also an Inventory Type, however, it deals less with consignors and more with your store. For a fuller explanation of Inventory Types, read the article below.
Terms
Terms are different from Status. They apply to how an item is handled after its expiration date. If the Terms are set to "Return to Consignor" our system will assume that after the expiration date, those items are returned to the owner. Items set to "Donate," on the other hand, can be donated at any point after the expiration date, and can still be sold. A popup will appear if you try to sell a donated item. It will ask if you would like to move 1 quantity back into the inventory. The consignor will still be credited if a donated item sells.
Expiration Date
The expiration date default will apply to all new items by default once this field is filled in. After the date is passed, items will be marked "Expired." Items with no terms will still be available to sell after they are expired. However, items marked "Return to Owner" will not be available to sell after their expiration date.
Item Title Template
Here you can adjust how you Item Titles appear. The fields in this section are the ones that are gathered into the title as you create the item. You can add many of the Item Creation Fields to the title. Just wrap the field in curly brackets.
Other Defaults
Custom Fields are also available to create here and when editing item fields. Click the "+Add Custom Field" button and then type in your title and choose the kind of value you will input. This will appear as an available field on all your items.
