Organizing Items with Tags

Adding Tags to Items to better sort and use your data

Tags can be used for a number of different functions, including making it easier to find your items when filtering and applying Point of Sale Functions like Discounts, Taxes, and Surcharges.

You can add tags to your items at time of Item Creation:

Or, you can add tags to your items in a Bulk Edit. To learn more about Bulk Editing Items, read the article below:

When searching for your different Tag Edits in the Bulk Editor, you are given three options:

  1. Add Tags

  2. Remove Tags

  3. Tags

(Ignore Tag Price field which has nothing to do with Tags.)

Add Tags adds a tag to items that have already existing tags that you don't want to remove.

Remove Tags removes the tag that you specify in the Bulk Edit.

Tags sets the selected tags to the exact tags you want on the items you're editing, replacing any previously existing tags.

The most common use of tags is for Discounts, Taxes, and Surcharges. If one of those price adjustments has a tag rule (e.g. "Apply to all items with tag Blue), you'll want to use these steps to find the items you want to apply the tag to, bulk edit (using filters like "Color is Blue"), and then use the tag "Blue" to set those price adjustments on the items you'd like them to go on.

For example, if you want a discount, surcharge, or tax to only apply to your high heels collection, you would want to filter by Item Type (e.g. "Item Type is Heels"), run a bulk edit to add the tag "Heels" to the items, then in the price adjustment rules add the rule "Apply to all items with tag Heels".
