How to set up STAR receipt printers

For STAR printers it’s important to note that there are many different models and therefore many different drivers to choose from. (So make sure that if you have a STAR TSP100 that you download the TSP100 driver for your specific computer— Windows or Mac.)

  1. Visit the Star Micronics website, download the latest drivers for your printer and computer model, and unzip the file.

  2. Open the downloaded driver from your Downloads folder and double-click it to expand.

    This is what it looks like on a Mac.

  3. Open the Setup folder and run the setup application (choose the correct version for your system).

  4. Start the InstallShield Wizard, click "Next" and enter User Name and Organization if needed.

  5. Select Typical installation, click "Next", then Install, and finally Finish.

  6. Ensure the printer is plugged in and turned on.

  7. Go to Control Panel > Printers and Scanners, see if it is there. If not click 'Add printer.'

8. Adjust Paper Size settings as needed by right clicking on the printer and selecting "Printing Preferences" then "Advanced."

9. Most standard receipts have a 72mm x 200mm paper size.

10. Click "Save."
