This will be a short article but the question has come up a lot lately. How do you select what labels to use?
When just starting out, there are a ton of questions to consider. Labels and label printers are a huge part of that but could easily get forgotten in the face of other major details. If you’re not sure where to start or just need some solid suggestions, keep reading and click through to a few options!
Label Properties
The most important aspect of choosing your labels is ensuring that the labels you purchase are compliant with whatever label printer you have. The most common kind of printer now is a thermal label printer and for that you, of course, need thermal labels. You can easily find rolls of labels that fit your printer by looking up your kind of printer followed by “compliant labels”.
Here are some links for labels by brand to help you find what you’re looking for.
You can also go to Dymo, Zebra, and Rollo websites to select your labels. Each brand and website will help you choose your specific printer to ensure you are selecting the correct size and type for your printer.
Label Functions
The other part is entirely up to you: the functionality. Are you going to choose colored labels to represent discounted prices? What about sticky labels that you can put on branded hang tags? What about tags that are tough and you can attach directly to the clothing?
And label designs themselves are completely customizable through Menu > Settings > Printing > Items Labels. So for whatever size or type of label you choose, you can make sure that your labels are branded and look exactly how you want.
The Example Label
In ConsignCloud, there will already be a defaulted label under Printing. That is the Dymo 30334 which are 2.25" by 1.25". If you don't want to start over all on your own, you can set up a Dymo printer, purchase 30334 labels linked above, and edit the design already set within the software. It may be a small detail overall but knowing which labels you’re using and why is important. And hopefully this brief article helped you source the exact thing you need.
