Knowing how much money you received, where it went, and why is crucial to running any business. It's vital to know exactly how much that 20% off sale cost you, or how much you're bringing in with that consignor surcharge — not to mention sales and income tax!

Our Sales & Payouts report aims to answer those questions as succinctly as possible. It can't answer every question — for a deeper dive, try out the Data Explorer report — but it's a place to start when keeping your books or making business decisions.


The first section of the report breaks down the money that came into your store via ConsignCloud's POS. The sales table is based on a simple math equation:

  • Gross Sales is the base price of items sold, plus gift cards

  • Net Sales is Gross Sales, plus surcharges, minus discounts

  • Total Collected is Net Sales plus taxes

  • Total Collected is further divided up by payment type

Additionally, there are three columns, one for sales within the time period, one for refunds within the time period, and the final being the net amount.


Below the Sales table, you'll find a summary of Payouts within the selected time period. The way this table works is pretty straightforward — the final row is the total of all the rows above it. Here's how the breakdown works:

  • Consignor Portion of Sales — this is the "split price" of a sold item, times the consignor split (after surcharges and discounts are calculated). This accrues as of the time of a sale or corresponding refund.

  • Consignor Surcharges — adjustments taken directly out of the consignor's portion per your surcharges. These are included here, not in the Sales Summary because they don't affect the price of an item.

  • Consignor Credit Used — payments made using store credit. This number should match the Store Credit number in the Sales table.

  • Buy Outright Purchase Credit — credit based on the cost of buy-outright items entered during the time period.

  • Arbitrary Balance Adjustments — adjustments manually added to an account.

  • Settlements — payouts of store credit; these will decrease the balance on an account.

Note that this is not a table of payouts, though that's part of it. Rather, it's a summary of changes to your accounts' balances. This means for example that the total at the bottom may be negative, if more payouts were issued during the time period than credits to consignor accounts.

Other things to know

The date picker is inclusive, meaning the report will show data from the selected days, as well as all the days in between. To view data for a single day, set the date pickers to the same date.

If you've enabled our Tills feature, you'll be able to filter this report by the till at which a sale was made. To view all sales, just select "No Till".

Note that sales made on Shopify are not accounted for here — you'll need to treat Shopify's reporting as a separate source of sales data. The reason for this is ConsignCloud's and Shopify's different areas of responsibility. Keeping Shopify's sales data our of ConsignCloud is the cleanest place to draw the line between the two services.
