Creating Surcharges

Understand what a surcharge is and how to create one in your store

What Are Surcharges

Surcharges can be used to modify the amount paid out to a consignor in a few different ways. There are three basic types:

Name

Consignor Effect

Buyer's Fee

Consignor gets less, but at the same rate as the split

Consignor Fee

Consignor gets less, but at a different rate than the split

Credit Card Fee

Consignor covers the Credit Card Fee

Creating Surcharges

To create a surcharge, go to Settings > Surcharges > Create New. A creation table will slide out of the right side of your screen.

Name the surcharge and select the type, whether Buyer's Fee, Consignor Fee, or Credit Card Fee. Then choose here whether the amount will be a set dollar amount (i.e. $10 Cleaning Fee), or a percentage of the sale price (i.e. 3% Credit Card Fee).

Rules

Setting a rule for a Surcharge determines which items the surcharge applies to. If you click the "+" button a dropdown list will appear showing the options for which items to apply the surcharge to. If you have a random grouping of items you want to apply a surcharge to simply tag all of the items in a bulk edit, and then choose the proper tag when you add the rule "Apply to items with tag."

Scheduling

Surcharges can also be scheduled to increase or decrease over a period of time. Click the "+" next to Schedules to add multiple scheduled changes like those below:

The percentages and days are completely customizable to suit your store's needs!

Click "Save" and your surcharge will be set!
