"ConsignCloud utilizes the "Register" feature to allow admins and employees to open a POS Register at the start of each day, input starting cash amounts, and adjust the balance throughout the day as needed. At end of day, they can then close the Register. This article covers how to open, adjust, and close Registers, as well as how to create Registers and view previous Register Reports."
Opening Your Register
For this to work, you will need to already have Registers set up for your store. Read the section at the bottom of the article to learn how!
At the start of the day:
Click “Select Register ↓”
Choose your Register from the dropdown menu
Click the Register again and select “Open Register”
Enter your starting cash amount.
It’s important that this amount is accurate so your ending cash total matches the amount counted in your drawer at the end of the day.
Using Your Register
Throughout the day, all sales processed through the Register will be tracked automatically.
To view your Register activity:
Click your Register name
Select “View Register”
From here, you can monitor your Register totals and activity at any time.
Adjusting Cash
If the cash amount in the Register is incorrect, you can update it at any time by selecting “Adjust Cash.”
This helps ensure your Register totals remain accurate throughout the day.
Reports
As sales are made through the same register, these sales show up not only in the Register Sales report under "View Register" but also under your store reports, including any payouts done for the day under that register.
To view these reports, go to Menu > Reports and select a register from the register dropdown at the top right corner of your reports screen.
Viewing Previous Days
You can also navigate between calendar days to review Register reports and activity from previous dates whenever needed.
Closing Your Register
At the end of the day, close your Register by:
Clicking the Register name and selecting “Close Register” from the dropdown menu, or
Opening “View Register” and selecting “Close Register” from the pop-up window
You’ll then:
Count the cash in your drawer
Enter the total amount counted
Compare the expected cash total against the actual cash on hand
If the totals don’t match, this indicates missing or extra cash that should be accounted for.
You can review all sales and cash activity in the Entries table for additional details.
How do I Create a Register?
To create a Register, open your Point of Sale and click the “Select Register ↓” button at the top of the screen. In the dropdown menu, click “+ Create New.”
You’ll be prompted to:
Enter a name for your Register
Assign a location (if your store has multiple locations)
––Creating Your First Register––
Once you’ve entered the information, you can open the Register by applying a starting cash amount.
If you’d prefer to create the Register without opening it yet, click “Cancel.”
NOTE: If you open a Register while testing, remember to close it at the end of the day. Leaving it open can cause inaccurate starting cash totals if sales are processed during testing.
