Allowing employees and vendors to enter items into your store can be very efficient—but it can also lead to duplicate or inconsistent data. This article walks you through how to clean up your inventory so it stays simple, consistent, and easy to manage.
ConsignCloud lets you create as many colors, brands, categories, and tags as you need. Over time, this flexibility can result in variations of the same value—for example: Pink, PNK, pnk, Pnk, or pink. This most commonly affects fields like Colors, Brands, Categories, and Tags.
Step 1: Filter Your Inventory
To clean this up, start by navigating to your Inventory and setting up filters to isolate the duplicate values.
For example, if you’re standardizing the color Pink, add filters such as:
Color is PNK
Color is Pink
Color is pink
(and any other variations you’ve used)
Once applied, save your filters. Your inventory list should now show only items that match those values.
Step 2: Run a Bulk Edit
With the filtered items selected, run a Bulk Edit.
Update the field to your preferred standardized value—for example:
Color → Pink
This will merge all spelling and capitalization variations into a single, consistent value.
Repeat as Needed
You can use this same process to clean up Brands, Categories, Tags, or any other fields:
Filter your inventory to isolate variations
Run a bulk edit
Apply a single standardized value
Regular cleanup like this helps keep your inventory accurate, searchable, and easy for your team to use.
NOTE: In ConsignCloud, Categories can be fully deleted in your Settings → Categories. Other fields like Item Type, Color, Brand, and Size cannot be currently deleted, but you can use this method to reduce all the quantity of incorrect values in those fields to '0'.
